그녀는 자신이 소파 위에서 <모래의 책>을 보다가 잠들었음을 깨닫는다.

현실에서는 박사 논문과는 상관도 없는 그녀는 이제 꿈속의 그 지도 교수를 향해 정색을 하고 대답한다.

“앞으로 넘기도, 뒤로 넘기든, 넘길 때마다 줄어들어 한 알의 모래로 변하고, 마침내는 그 모래알마저 사라져버리게 되어 있는 책입니다.”

She realizes that she fell asleep while watching <The Book of Sand> on the sofa.

In reality, she has nothing to do with her doctoral dissertation, and now answers the instructor in her dream with a straight face.

"It is a book that shrinks and turns into a grain of sand every time you turn it over, and eventually even that grain of sand disappears."
